Melanie Pagan (MP), Graduate Student: “In a number of ways! One, it has validated my experiences. So, it’s not something that I know and see in my life that no one else knows about. It’s also helped me feel a lot less shame around needing accommodations and just my brain being wired differently. I’ve moved into a space of identifying as neurodivergent, identifying as a person with a disability…I also ask for help a little bit more without feeling embarrassed or shame, and that is helpful to produce better work.”

The Latin@/x Network (LN) plays host to ACPA’s Latino membership affectionately referred to as LNers. The LN provides a variety of professional development opportunities for its members by sponsoring Latino interest programs, network meetings, and the maintenance of a national listserv. Additionally, the LN acts as a social vehicle to promote networking opportunities and an informal social support.

Melanie Pagan, assistant director of Race and Ethnicity Programs at Unity House, the College's multicultural center and one of the event sponsors, said, "We're so pleased with the program for the convocation because it reflects the passion of the students, alumni and Unity House staff who worked hard to produce it. And it represents well the vibrant intellectual and cultural pursuits for which the College is known. It's a great opportunity to share those pursuits with our neighbors in the community."
